leadership and healthcare management

Scientific Reports International – Second Issue – April 2, 2022

Abstract

In today’s healthcare environments, it is very necessary for healthcare practitioners to demonstrate effective leadership. In the context of ever-increasing demands for healthcare as well as the need for enhanced efficiency and productivity, the primary driver that is driving this is the desire to enhance the quality of healthcare that is being provided. Despite the fact that there are a number of elements that contribute to the failure of quality improvement programs, the most significant causes are the medical staff’s reluctance to change and their lack of involvement in the program. Clinicians who take on leadership responsibilities are required to overcome these obstacles and create a style of leadership that is inclusive and caters to the requirements of healthcare professionals while also meeting their demands. Nevertheless, in the end, a leadership strategy that emphasizes group responsibility is the most likely to produce and maintain quality improvement.

NARRATIVE REVIEW OF NURSING ROLES IN CIIEST PHYSIOTHERAPY WITH PROPER SUCT10NING IN ICU

Scientific Reports International – Second Issue – April 2, 2022

Abstract

This study investigates the pivotal importance of nursing interventions in chest physiotherapy, specifically in relation to effective suctioning, within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) environment. This review examines the various ways in which nurses contribute to improving respiratory care and patient outcomes by analyzing a wide range of relevant literature. The review examines the nursing responsibilities in conducting comprehensive evaluations of respiratory health, recognizing signs for chest physiotherapy and suctioning, choosing suitable methods based on each patient’s specific requirements, and implementing evidence-based interventions to enhance airway clearance and enhance pulmonary function. Moreover, the analysis highlights the substantial influence of nursing interventions on patient outcomes, such as decreased healthcare-associated infections, shorter durations of ICU stay, and enhanced respiratory function.

How Do Youth Present Themselves on Social Media? Online Self-Presentation Strategies and Demographic Attributes among Saudi Youth

Scientific Reports International – Second Issue – April 2, 2022

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess the self-presentation strategies that Saudi youth utilizes on social media and whether these strategies are associated with human characteristics. By using the Revised Self-Presentation Scale (RSPS), an electronic survey was designed to measure the self-representation strategies, which Saudi youth use mainly to present themselves on social media platforms. A total of 712 undergraduate students from various Saudi regional universities completed the survey questionnaire. The results show that the most frequently used strategy among the self-presentation strategies is ‘exemplification’ (role modeling), followed by ‘ingratiation’, then ‘self-promotion’. The other strategies, ‘supplication’ and ‘intimidation’, were rarely used. There are statistically significant differences between the averages of practicing ‘exemplification’ strategy between male and female respondents. There was also statistically significant differences between the averages of practicing ‘exemplification’ strategy between the respondents from different regions in Saudi Arabia.

The psychological effects of nursing work

Scientific Reports International – Second Issue – April 2, 2022

Abstract

Nursing is a multifaceted profession that goes beyond clinical tasks, involving profound emotional experiences that significantly impact caregivers. This paper explores the psychological effects of nursing work, encompassing factors such as workplace stressors, challenges faced historically and currently, coping mechanisms, and support systems. Drawing on transactional theory, it examines individual and organizational factors contributing to nurses’ psychological well-being. The COVID-19 pandemic has intensified these challenges, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive support systems for nurses. Strategies for self-care, seeking support, setting boundaries, and technological adaptation are discussed. Additionally, organizational support systems, including supportive leadership, effective communication channels, and policies prioritizing employee well-being, are highlighted as crucial for fostering a positive work environment and mitigating burnout.

The Role of Chief Information Officer (CIO) in Implementing IT Governance in Health Care Sector

Scientific Reports International – Second Issue – April 2, 2022

Abstract

Healthcare providers face challenges as digital demand increases, and whether a healthcare provider has a properly-integrated health care system or a mismanaged one becomes quickly evident. Mismanaged IT services are part of what seriously hinders efforts to transform the value of information technology into business value in the healthcare sector (Wang et al. 2018). Improving health care IT services is, therefore, essential. Overcoming these challenges is critical to the sustainability of health systems to deliver equitable and efficient services (Ingebrigtsen et al. 2014).

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) plays a vital role in the development of a business’ working strategy and contributes as a valuable member of the C–level of the Managerial Team and the manager of Health Information Technology (HIT) (Eck 2016). Technological changes in healthcare have created new opportunities for CIO’s, as indicated from the CIO Centre for Health Care. A paradigm shift has occurred, requiring a mental and physical transition from the previous model, wherein a CIO might have had simple technical responsibilities, to a model where the CIO now has a critical (often executive) managerial position, greatly valued for his or her smooth management and contributions to seamlessly-functioning information technology in the healthcare sector (Eck 2016). The challenge here is how the Chief Information Officer (CIO) best performs his or her important role in implementing successful IT governance in the health care sector and what challenges CIOs face in the implementation of IT governance.
